Trek to Kilik Mintika Pass
Kilik and Mintika, two historic passes on the Pakistani border with china., foreigners were not allowed to visit the area, but now it is open since 1999.



It is a beautiful valley, springs and trees are abundant there, and the camp sites are grassy. For more than 1000 years Kilik and Mintika were the silk Routes primary passes between china and Hunza and today again these broad valley and extensive alpine meadow are attractive for foreigners.

Itinerary:

 

01 Receive from Airport and transfer to the hotel.
02 Drive to Chilas (9-10 hrs driving).
03 Drive to Passu (7 hrs driving) en route stop for lunch at Raka Poshi View point.
04 Drive to Misgar valley, afternoon explores the surrounding area. Overnight camping or staying at local Guest House.
05 Misgar / Murkushi. (6-7 hrs) walking along the road between Misgar and Kalam Darchi. Than trail follows the Kilik River's up to the Khan Wali (British Check Post). and further walk in this beautiful valley you will reach Murkushi, Last and the largest of the plain grassy. Overnight camping in Murkushi.
06 Murkushi / Gul Khwaja Uween. 4 hours trek, its redish granite terraces and cliff, unmerous side streams and water falls give it a dramatic but pleasant quality. Overnight camping.
07 The route to Mintika pass is visible from Gul Khawaja Uween it is 4 hurs trek passing through the most hillside and collapsed moraine. The area around the Mintika pass abounds is brown bear and wolf sign. Lus lopgoz (big grass) is the border area, Return via the same route.
08 Retrace you steps down valley to Mukushi.
09 Follow the trail to Kalam Darchi, then easier road to Misgar. Afternoon Drive back to Passu. Overnight Passu.
10 Drive to Gilgit en route visit Karimabad bazaar and Baltit Fort.
11 Drive to Besham.
12 Return to Islamabad via visiting Taxila museum.
13 City tour of Islamabad / Rawalpindi, and then transfer to the airport for flight.
